Goron City will be empty when you arrive, except for the the lone Goron rolling around on the third floor. Stop his progress
with a well placed bomb flower and he will tell you that Ganondorf has captured all the Gorons and will feed them to Volvagia
as a warning to other races. He explains that Darunia has gone to the Fire Temple to save them, presents you with a heat resistant
tunic and asks you to go and save them. Talk to him again and he will reveal the secred entrance in Darunia's room. Pull the
Statute forward and enter Death Mountain Crater, where Sheik will teach you the Bolero of Fire. Inside the Fire Temple there
are nine Gorons in cells. Each one will give you a key and some useful tip about the Temple. Once you beat Volvagia, Darunia
will be revealed as the Sage of Fire and give you the Medallion.
Volvagia is one of my favorite bosses. When you enter the boss lair there is a block leading to the center island, which is
covered ih holes. As you step onto the island, the block will descend into the lava and Volvagia will fly out of one of the
holes in an impressive flying display. Stand on the edge of the island where you have a good view of all the holes. As soon
as Volvagia pops his head out of the hole, hit him on the head with the megaton hammer. If you don't get there in time he
will breathe fire or swipe at you with one of his claws. After you hit him, Volvagia will alternate between two different
attacks. He will either fly in circles and breathe fire, or rocks will come crashing down onto the platform. When he starts
breathing fire, just crouch down behind your shield and he will fly around but he won't hit you. When the rocks start raining
down, I prefer to run around the perimeter of the island, or run back and forth on one side. As you get closer to the end
of the battle, Volvagia will switch holes - fire will burst out of the hole preceding the dragon, but sometimes the fire will
come out of two different wholes before the dragon appears. Once you deliver the final blow, he will clutch his head, then
sink back into the lava for a moment, then burst out and fly around as he is consumed in flames. His head will land near you
and dissolve into your heart container.
